Ben Kacyra has made the biggest contribution to archeological research since Indiana Jones added the bull whip to his field kit. A laser-mapping tool intended to solve a problem in construction -- keeping accurate records of the real dimensions of factories and power plants when they deviate from the architect's plans. Will be used on remote dig sites to glean the true dimensions of ancient monuments within a few millimeters. ( SF Chronicle)
