iPod iChing - emergent metrics

Wow, friday again... we'll be delocally topical and ask: Oh mighty iPod, is the very space-time metric upon which we calculate our oh so effective theories really an emergent phenomenon of a more dynamic and fundamental planckian structure?

Whoosh goes the randomizer.
Whoosh.

  • The Covering: Michael Caine - Madness
  • The Crossing: Little Jack Horner
  • The Crown: Rat Race - Specials
  • The Root: Isolation - Joy Division
  • The Past: I'm So Worried - Monty Python
  • The Future: Jaded - Green Day
  • The Questioner: Four Ruffles and Flourishes, General's March
  • The House: Money Song - Monty Python
  • The Inside: Hiroshima - Utangarðsmenn
  • The Outcome: Grettir og Glámur - Bubbi

Oh my.
Mighty and wise is the iPod.

We start off way cool, but its a bit silly and self-congratulatory.
Then The Crown comes with its brutal truth the Root continues with brutal honest,
but then the Past tells us it is really just a bit of a laugh, innit. Well except for the baggage system, obviously.
The Future is back on theme, what are we doing!
Questioner is cute though, I'll take it.
The House - well it is true, all too true, eh?
The Inside is "Einstein's wisdom will condemn us all" - I guess we need to let go of the metric eh?
And the Outcome is a flawed hero of tremendous strength wrestling with a ghost, he prevails but it ultimately dooms him.

Ouch.

As always, the Key as explained by Sean

Rat Race

You're working at your leisure to learn the things you'll need
The promises you make tomorrow will carry no guarantee
I've seen your qualifications, you've got a Ph.D.
I've got one art O level, it did nothing for me

Working for the rat race
You know you're wasting your time
Working for the rat race
You're no friend of mine

You plan your conversation to impress the college bar
Just talking about your Mother and Daddy's Jaguar
Wear your political T-shirt and sacred college scarf
Discussing the worlds situation but just for a laugh

You'll be working for the rat race
You know you're wasting your time
Working for the rat race
You're no friend of mine

Working for the rat race
You know you're wasting your time
Working for the rat race
You're no friend of mine

Just working at your leisure to learn the things you don't need
The promises you make tomorrow will carry no guarantee
I've seen your qualifications, you've got a Ph.D.
I've got one art O level, it did nothing for me

Working for the rat race
You know you're wasting your time
You're working for the rat race
You're no friend of mine

Almost everyone tries to lose weight at some point, but we are remarkably bad at it; most people quickly return to their original weight after cessation of exercise or resumption of a normal diet.
Baby rats, only 5 days old and still very much reliant on their mothers for food, can be artificially dehydrated by injecting them with a saline hypertonic solution. If a source of water is placed very close to the rat's snout, it will drink.
