Mike, I shopuld clarify that my initial post was made in haste to express the wonderment of technology. I didn't consider the manuscript, from cold, in about 5 minutes via my iPhone. The manuscript at issue had been read thoroughly and discussed by a number of colleagues over several days. The iPhone part came at the very end when the decision had been made to reject it, and all I had to do was make that decision physically. For that, I could have used my laptop, my Asus Eee, my desktop in the office ... or indeed, an iPhone.
I still don't think there are going to be a lot of scientists who are thrilled with the new use you've found for your iPhone.
Mike, you haven't given any reasons for holding this opinion. Why should the reactions of scientists be dictated by the medium rather than the message? I'm sure that if I'd sent a decision to accept a manuscript by my iPhone, then the scientists concerned would not care how the message was transmitted.

Yes, the reactions will be dictated by the message.
In general, anything that makes it simple and easy for you to complete the process of rejecting the paper will be frowned upon, at least by those scientists who have papers rejected. Of course, anything that makes it simple and easy for you to complete the process of accepting a paper will be joyfully welcomed, at least by those scientists who have papers accepted.
Given your rejection rates, I think it's reasonable to say that, on average, scientists are more likely to be unhappy with your new use for your iPhone.
And I was really trying for tongue-in-cheek there. Sorry if it didn't work.
