ConvergeSouth 2006

The second ConvergeSouth conference on blogging and journalism will be held on the NC A&T University in Greensboro, NC on Saturday, October 14, 2006. Check out the homepage and blog and register soon. It is going to be even more of an Unconference than last year.

Although it is expected that many in attendance will be from the vibrant local blogging community, it is by no means restricted to the South. Last year, we had people coming in from California, New England and abroad, so if you are interested in the blogging/podcasting world, this is a place to be.

I have blogged about the last year's ConvergeSouth, both as a whole and specific sessions, which you can check out here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here and here.

If you have any questions, or want to propose a topic for a session, contact Sue or Ed as they are the people "in the know" there.

No, it's an Unconference. Most of the good stuff is happening before teh two big sessions by Mr.Sun and Lex and there, who knows who is going to lead. With Sue organizing the conference and so many powerful female voices in NC blogging community, I doubt that there is going to be much space for us guys to do something!

Okay, I just read your stuff over at Echidne's and I was curious about you. Your reply above, I will assume, was meant to be friendly and encouraging. Now take a deep breath, re-read it, and see if you think I'm being oversensitive when I say it sounds really patronizing, especially that final sentence. None of those "powerful female voices" are OFFICIAL leaders, few have signed up so far, but still you fear being shut out by them? Now I probably sound really obnoxious, and I don't mean to be, but really, at this point you couldn't pay me to attend.

That was accidental, as I just left that link in a thread at Echidne's, I just meant to leave the FLP URL. Passive-aggressive? Okay, this wasn't supposed to be a flame war, and I will take my leave.

Damn are you serious! This is a fun, tongue-in-cheek blog 100% of the time. I am not afraid of getting shut out. I am proud of the strong blogging community here which has people like Sue who IS ORGANIZING the thing and people like Ruby Sienreich and many, many other great female bloggers. Not every bloggercon has to be BlogHerCon - this one is about journalism. Who cares what the sex ration is going ot be - I am interested iun what topics people will come up with on the fly - even right there and then, not in advance. And unconeferences are alwayts great fun, just wild, unirganized, mingling effairs that often produce great insights out of apparent confusion.

What's most amusing is that if I can just land the confirmation, one of the DLs just spoke at BlogHer. Haha. Obviously Ann's never met Sue either. Heh. She's in the what you could say "founding three" of CS. And I'll smack anyone that says she isn't strong. :p
