Would You Like to Work at PLoS?

I just noticed there are six ads on the PLoS Jobs page. I thought that my vast blog readership (sic!) may include people suited for and interested in such jobs. Perhaps you would like to work as a Web Producer, or Javascript Developer, or Senior Java Programmer, for instance?

You get to live in the Bay Area where everyone is on Facebook (is that good or bad?) and never have to wear a tie to work (or whatever is the formal equivalent for female employees). And everyone there, regardless of the actual job, is a big proponent of Open Access and loves working for a forward-looking, cutting-edge organization. Every day brings new excitement - I know, I work there and it is great fun.

Yes - it _is_ BAD that everyone in the Bay is on Facebook! I am not a contender for any of the positions. Wish I were.

Heh, I'd love to. Unfortunately my school transcript is full of science course rather than web development. I previously applied for a web production job and got as far as some email correspondence with Mr. Cave, but never heard anything further.

One of the big "I wish some one would have told me this earlier" moments I've had is when I started realizing how tough it is to land jobs that are outside of your "documented" (aka on a transcript) skillset. If any undergrads are reading, I'd recommend taking a few courses in areas that you find even a bit interesting. You never know when they might pay off.

Still seems like it would be a fun place to work though! I'm sure that they'll be able to fill the positions soon.
