The most exciting phrase to hear in science,

the one that heralds new discoveries, is not 'Eureka!' (I found it!) but 'That's funny ...'

Isaac Asimov (1920 - 1992)

More like this

Discussing Isaac Asimov's non-fiction a bit yesterday reminded me of my absolute favorite panel at Worldcon, Saturday's "Mundane or Transcendent?" with Cory Doctorow, Patrick Nielsen Hayden, Charlie Stross, and Robert Silverberg as moderator.
They've gone too far. It was bad enough that the creationists treat science with such contempt, but now…the fundy kooks hate science fiction, too!
More SF indulgence, excuse me: Gary Farber has been reading Heinlein's rediscovered "first" novel (brief summary: it's very bad), and

MikeG, we hear every one of your threats and take them seriously.

Eric, Nah, its just me going over to dark side.

I'm trying to picture Asimov saying "that's funny..."

Just because you are tying the knot with a dolphin is no reason to draw this out. We accept the fact you are for trans-species sex.
