Once in a lifetime opportunity

I don't know how many of these you received yesterday, but here's one more:

Dear American:

I need to ask you to support an urgent secret business relationship with a transfer of funds of great magnitude.

I am Ministry of the Treasury of the Republic of America. My country has had crisis that has caused the need for large transfer of funds of 800 billion dollars US. If you would assist me in this transfer, it would be most profitable to you.

I am working with Mr. Phil Gram, lobbyist for UBS, who will be my replacement as Ministry of the Treasury in January. As a Senator, you may know him as the leader of the American banking deregulation movement in the 1990s. This transactin is 100% safe.

This is a matter of great urgency. We need a blank check. We need the funds as quickly as possible. We cannot directly transfer these funds in the names of our close friends because we are constantly under surveillance. My family lawyer advised me that I should look for a reliable and trustworthy person who will act as a next of kin so the funds can be transferred.

Please reply with all of your bank account, IRA and college fund account numbers and those of your children and grandchildren to wallstreetbailout@treasury.gov so that we may transfer your commission for this transaction. After I receive that information, I will respond with detailed information about safeguards that will be used to protect the funds.

Yours Faithfully Minister of Treasury Paulson

There must be a catch to this.

More like this

There is a catch Revere..... Paulson is a Democrat.

Isnt it interesting that with all of the Democrats in charge of the Congress and with the Annointed One supposedly pulling a Bill and Hill on the regulation of the banking industry that this happened.

Was it not reined in when McCain warned 3 years ago? Nope. Was it reined in back in July when Obama warned of it. If Obama was so concerned then why did he just clam up after he received his campaign contribution?

I would like to see if indeed there was pressure put onto the banks by any administration to lend to people who were not financially stable. I know it was done here, because it was on the news that they were and that was just about 2 years ago when the Democrats took over. Many got into their houses and then just defaulted from payment one.

Lots of blame going around and the real Republicans are sticking it up there for everyone to see. I think we ought to just let the system collapse for once.

Bailouts-There will be no end to it and it is indeed the socialization of the US economy. One thing is sure, this kills UHC because if its just a check to the government with them once again in our pockets via taxes they will want more yet.

This isnt 700 billion boys and girls... its a trillion and the Dems wanted to add another 250 BILLION for ACORN housing projects. You know the ones that Obama was involved in with Rezko.

Now we are going to get socked for another pile of money... Your post is deceiving Revere, you sound like a pissed off Republican. You considering changing parties or affiliations?
.
Stay on this one instead of Palin. This is a real issue instead of whether there are 3.2 mile roads in Alaska.

Randy: Paulson is a Republican as far as I know. He worked for John Ehrlichman. He was the fraternity brother in college of one of my good friends. His Wikipedia entry states he is a Republican. What is your evidence he is a Democrat? And what does it matter?

McCain is not only a consistent dergulator of the financial industry (except when it is convenient to talk about the greed of Wall Streeters) but also a crooked and corrupt Senator on banking issues (Keating 5 sound familiar?).

I'm not surprised you want to stay off the subject of McCain's brilliant choice for the person a heartbeat away from a 72 year old who has had four bouts of melanoma. That's putting country first? Yeah, right. You are stuck with Palin. Let's hope the rest of us won't be stuck with her.

And you know as well as I do that McCains chances of dying from melanoma inside of four years is about ZIP.

There is a difference between being stuck with a Palin or getting it stuck in our wallets and butts by Obama/Biden. Here is the simple answer and then it becomes moot...

Let Wall Street get themselves out of their mess rather than doing anything at all. Or if we do help, the I suggest they do it so it doesnt do any MORE spending as the Dems want. One quarter trillion MORE to be exact.

Randy, "There is a difference between being stuck with a Palin or getting it stuck in our wallets and butts by Obama/Biden..."

Randy, as person who knows a shitload 'bout that particular subject which may end up wiping out +30% of our darling species, and as a person who was victimized by homophobic Australian doctors and cops, then FORCED to steal food to live whilst my smalltown gay male peers (guys whom I grew up and danced at nightclubs with) laugh-sneered then turned blind eyes and got on with their spoiltbrat middleclass smalltown lives, I know the true meaning of "getting it stuck in the butt"!

And so do the American folk who pay taxes for the privilege of being the economic victims of the "this sucker might sink" Bush administration -- subject of next week's Dateline current affairs show broadcast on the Oz version of PBS, SBS: "With America's economy on the rocks, a new breed of homeless person is emerging -- those who are holding down a job, but living in their cars. Aaron Lewis [videojourno who covered the SARS outbreak] is in California where special car parking spaces have been set aside so these people can safely bed down for the night..."

And yeah, Palin is not exactly the right choice -- her uneducated and bigoted mouth might end up a contributing factor in the next great American military "adventure" (see an excerpt of my letter to Katie Couric):

Re: CBS Evening News with Katie Couric [AmericanOz MomsRising via Downunder drivetime radio Version]

To: "Katie Couric" [email]

Friday, September 26th, 2008 (Australia time)

Howdy Katie, your interview with Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin on her foreign policy experience has become rather famous in Perth, Western Australia. Earlier today, on a high rating drivetime radio show, the "Putin rears his head" excerpt was given the "Aussie" treatment by the DJs -- "God, America has gone crazy, this woman has the foreign policy credentials and diplomatic finesse of an uneducated moron and she COULD become vice president of the most powerful nation on the planet!?!"

Couric: "[As governor of Alaska, have] you ever been involved in any
negotiations, for example, with the Russians?"

Palin: "We have trade missions back and forth, we do. It's very
important when you consider even national-security issues with Russia.
As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United
States of America, where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over
the border. It is from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that
an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because
they are right next to, they are right next to our state..."

Katie, yesterday, MomsRising.org members tried to deliver a letter -- signed by over 21,000 people (I'm one of them) -- to Governor Sarah Palin's office in Washington, D.C. The letter simply asked, "Where do you stand?" on key issues of importance to moms and families.

But, they were turned away at the door.

When pressed, Palin's staff told the group to drop the letter in the mail, refusing to acknowledge the crowd of moms (and adorable baby) who were in the office to hand deliver it.

Snail mail can take a while, and we want to make sure that this election covers more than moose burgers, body surfing and scary Putin's "reared head".

All candidates -- male, female, Democrat, Republican, and other -- should speak to these issues. Some are, and others aren't (1). So, we're bringing our questions to the next level: getting our questions front and center in the Vice Presidential Debate on October 2nd.

Email PBS Senior Correspondent Gwen Ifill, who will be moderating the debate, to tell her you want these important questions asked:
http://www.momsrising.org/VPDebateQuestions

The MomsRising.org team has written five questions we'd like to see posed to both Palin and Biden in that debate (see the questions below (2)). Let's get these questions to the debate moderator so the American public gets a chance to hear both candidates, side-by-side, answering the same questions.

When you click the link above, you'll send a message to Gwen Ifill and cc both of the presidential campaigns to let them know that over 21,000 voters want to hear them talk about these issues (which impact millions of Americans) at the debate.

Tell your friends to email Gwen Ifill, too! She needs to know how deeply important these issues are for millions of Americans -- and that we demand they be addressed now!

Cheers:*) Jonathon

Paulson was nominated by U.S. President George W. Bush to succeed John Snow as the Treasury Secretary on May 30, 2006.[16] On June 28, 2006, he was confirmed by the United States Senate to serve in the position.[17] Paulson was officially sworn in at a ceremony held at the Treasury Department on the morning of July 10, 2006.

Paulson's three immediate predecessors as CEO of Goldman Sachs Jon Corzine, Stephen Friedman, and Robert Rubin each left the company to serve in government: Corzine as a U.S. Senator (later Governor of New Jersey), Friedman as chairman of the National Economic Council (later chairman of the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board), and Rubin as both chairman of the NEC and later Treasury Secretary under President Bill Clinton.[18]

His policies have been Democrat in nature Revere...... I cant find that he is anything but Democrat in nature. Bailout this, bailout that....... Print the money and look at the biggest printer of them all...Robert Rubin.

He and Corzine are good buddies...... Neat that he is very widely held in China too.

Motivations.......questionable at best. This is a a parachute for Wall Street so they can get back up, take our money and then the system collapses post of it in about 6 months. Whomever is in the White House is going to have to gut the Congress like a fish else the frying pan is where we are all going to be.

Randy: So you were wrong. Maybe Rubin is a Repulican? LOL.

Here is your old friend Barney Frank in the news... Lets not forget Maxine Waters either. Now isnt it strange that they were pumping out money to the very committee members that were in charge of oversight? They were warned FLAT OUT by federal regulators that this was going to happen 2 years ago and then the Democrats just batted them aside. Those were Republican administration regulators warning of this

Obama now has the head of Fannie (or is it Freddie) as his economic advisor. So many crooks to hire.

Unfortunately there was NO oversight by Congress of any kind and Frank, Dodd both were at the head of the class. Maxine Waters also tried to make it a racial issue.

No money down loans, no credit checks.... Its all good in the newly found hood.

Here is your old friend Barney Frank in the news... Lets not forget Maxine either. Obama now has the head of Fannie (or is it Freddie) as his economic advisor. Lets not let the paint brush get too far from Dodd who took more money from those two that started this ball rolling than anyone else. Obama is number two... Now about that bought and paid for oversight....!

Its going to take YEARS to get this mess under control and all of this spending is going to have to be cut to cover it. They raise taxes right now and it will have the same effect as it did when "FDR got on television in 1929" and it will deepen a recession into a depression.

Watch out for this deal.... It very likely ISNT enough money and that huge bank in New York is supposedly sitting on 3 trillion in toxic assets. There aint that much money in any of our pockets or as loans from every country on this planet.

BTW-I cant find anything, anywhere that describes Paulson as a Republican. He is a Republican appointee is all. I checked in the RNC memberships and found that he only started donations some 10 years ago. Not a member of the Illinois Party as best I can find out.
