This is my last post at Scienceblogs.com. In the future I will be blogging at Greg Laden's blog, located at its original home at gregladen.com. I have a feeling that Scienceblogs will not last long without me. What do you think? :) But seriously, I'll be talking about the story of the current…
Hacking Voting Machines
October 10, 2017
In every area of life, but especially in the overlapping realms of technology, science, and health, misunderstanding how things work can be widespread, and that misunderstanding can lead to problems. In the area of voting, the main problem seems to be the expenditure of great amounts of outrage and…
On that chilling law suit against the environmental groups

First, there will be an Atheist Baseball Game. Here in the Twin Cities we have a minor league team called the Saint Paul Saints. On August 10th, they will be rebranded as the Mr. Paul Aints, and the banners of the Minnesota Atheists…
Sunday Function
Here's a simple function that's not so often found in mathematical physics, but it's still a nice showpiece for exhibiting some interesting behavior: I've only plotted it for positive real x, because for x less than zero it starts spitting out complex numbers in a very unfriendly way. We're only considering it along the domain in which it's purely a real function. Just from the graph it's…
Africam!
I just found this website called Africam where they have live video feeds of animals in, you guessed it, Africa. It is so neat! My favorite recorded video they have shows an African fish eagle calling. It is such an impressive sight to see how far back this bird stretches its neck during the call. The African Fish Eagle is actually a relative of the North American bald eagle. For more…
