An inside look at the "Killer Pig from Hell", Archaeotherium

I love the work that Larry Witmer and his students do at Ohio University. Not only is it cutting-edge anatomical research that helps us better understand prehistoric organisms, but the Witmer lab is constantly sharing parts of their work via the web. They even have their own YouTube feed with lots of 3D renderings of fossil animals, including one of my favorite prehistoric mammals, Archaeotherium. The video below presents a view of its skull and brain cast, as well as a quick look at its jaws in action:

What with yesterday's article on an 'alternative look' for ceratopsians, here's another one.
Bones have been big news recently, following the publication of two papers which document remarkable fossil finds.
Majungasaurus is one cool theropod. Not only does is have a neat, knobby skull but the numerous remains of this dinosaur allowed for an entire series of papers on it to appear in the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology Memoirs.

cool. But is that a lissencephalic cortex? In a creature of that size? :/

arhhh, i like the laugh at thee end, hehe, very good.
I hope they see the dimensions refered here.
