Whoa!

Pretty cool, huh?

It's not every day--in Oxford at least--that your neighbor's house gets blown up. This blast happened just a few houses down from mine... but fortunately it was a controlled explosion. ITV is currently filming scenes in Oxford for its detective series Lewis, and a crew spent today filming on my street. The grand finale was this awesome explosion.

Fantastic! Is LEWIS the sequel to the INSPECTOR MORSE series? I loved those...

I live in LA, so there's shoots going on all the time, but still, it was jarring recently to be dining at a downtown eatery a few weeks ago while a Will Smith thriller was shooting two blocks away. The meal was interrupted by regular bursts of fake gunfire, culminating with an exploding van. Not as impressive as the house exploding, though...

My favorite thing was the traffic advisory sign announcing the cordoning off of the block: "Warning: Filming in Progress. Gunfire and Explosions. Expect Delays."

I figured that someone decided Dawkins had to go....

Did you try to get a part in the show as an extra? Like, maybe by walking by, and just happening to get into the shoot?

(just kidding - from a stint in a crowd shot in Major League - no chance of picking me out, even if I was in a scene where the camera shot was used - it normally isn't as easy as that, expecially if explosives are involved). Looks interesting, even if I haven't heard of the show. Heck, I just discovered Spooks/MI-5 a few weeks ago.

Well, from what I understand, this is an everyday occurrence in parts of Iraq....

Has anyone claimed responsibility for this on Backbite yet?
