Eight of the freshest (in both senses) from the last 24 hours:
- Framing Science takes a look at the relationship between hot weather, and news-media attention paid to global warming
- PZ Myers offers his gloss on pending stem cell legislation
- Pure Pedantry reports that getting enough sleep appears to lower your chances of obesity
- Dr. Joan Bushwell eagerly anticipates the premiere of the SciFi Network's newest series, a small-town drama with overtones of 'Twin Peaks'
- Evolgen conjectures about developing "a community of armchair molecular genetics data miners"
- Cognitive Daily wonders whether human perceptions of what is beautiful really are universal
- Aetiology rags on Martha Stewart for spreading advice that just might get you sick
- And last but not least, Dynamics of Cats asks: What is the best PhD thesis title, ever?

No, I'm not going to AGU this year. But if you are, AGU has activities for bloggers. From Maria-José Viñas, AGU's public affairs coordinator:
NewsTrust is a news portal that rates the stories by the quality of the journalism, as assessed by readers.
Tomorrow's Nature has a nice, long article about the plight of science journalism and the potential role of science blogs in filling the void as science journalists are laid off and the news-media are going bankrupt and shutting down.
The newsmedia are being tested to see if a bald-faced lie in a McCain ad will pass without comment. So far they are acquitting themselves well.
All three Stem cell bills just passed.
