Town twinning indeed. Amersham is twinned with Benshiem Bensheim in Germany and Krynica in Poland sez a signboard in Amersham. Finally, after looking at the signboard in Amersham for a few months, I've looked up on what it is all about.
More like this
People live in places, like Namakkal and Amersham. Amersham is a place named after a heap of stones. Namakkal is also a place named after a stone, but a stone is not a place. A stone is something stuck in a place because it has no legs. People have legs.
Category error knows no boundaries. Well, that's why it is called a category error, I hear you say. Wait. Lend me your eyeballs for a minute and I'll show you what I mean: A category error that crosses continents and technology boundaries.
Something to read while having it. Why do people still drink it although there are no malarial mosquitoes where it is now had (such as, by me right now in Amersham)?
Yours truly is travelling to his beloved country early morning today for three weeks (real early, am sleepless in amersham). Expect a short break at this blog for the next few days.
I guess it is Bensheim not Benshiem (-heim is quite common in german town names and means just home).
On the city's homepage (http://www.bensheim.de/) you will find a link to a webcam. So you max get some impression of a german "Weihnachtsmarkt"
And apparently Chennai's sister city is Denver,CO! Everytime I hear that, I wonder why?
Denver and Chennai twinned! Interestng way to exchange culture. That reminds me of the time I spent in (The Republic of) Boulder, Colorado. The mountains always reminded me of the hills surrounding Namakkal. The comparison is not exactly precise, particularly when looking at the size of the mountains, but then I like the idea of having Namakkal as the twin city of Boulder.
