A question for sari-clad Indian women

Why do Indian women drape their sari on the left shoulder normally? Is it just because of the preponderance of right handedness (so draping over left shoulder is just a bit more convenient) or is there some other reason?

Hrm. Well. Tut-tut-tut. Now we can see Flying Spaghetti Monster erotica. Not exactly work-safe, but noodly bits are artfully draped to make it all a little less explicit.
This link is NSFW or for anyone who knows anything about octopus anatomy—it's a couple of nudes with dangerously draped octopuses.
A little string of pearls is the perfect touch, even for a planet.

Possibly for the same reasons you button your shirt left over right.

... no, I don't actually know.

I don't know either. Wearing women's clothes isn't my favourite perversion...

Maybe there is a practical reason. For example, think about picking up something on the ground with your right hand: the loose end of the cloth would fall down, if it were on the right shoulder.

How do lefties wear their saris?

I am just glad that it doesn't go over both shoulders! Depending on how that is done, it can be awful and extremely restrictive.
