I don't suspect there will be much going on here for the remainder of the year, so here are two poems I find lovely and notable.
CHRISTMAS 1924

'Peace upon earth!' was said. We sing it
And pay a million priests to bring it.
After two thousand years of mass
We've got as far as poison-gas.

A little girl called Sile Javotte
Said 'Look at the lovely presents I've got'
While a little girl in Biafra said
'Oh what a lovely slice of bread'.
