Past Crimes

Chester library has two thematic fiction sections that I've never seen at Swedish libraries. One offers historical fiction. The other, also quite large, is all mystery novels set in the distant past -- labelled "Past Crimes".

There's a slick new online Sci Fi rag called Lightspeed. I like this one because they also publish nonfiction pieces that are relevant to their fiction stories.
Last Friday I went to at talk by Brian David Johnson from Intel. That sentence sounds like any other that an academic could write--always with the going to seminars we acahacks are.

One of my favorites is the Brother Cadfael series by Elis Peters, about a 12th century monk who solves murders using his knowledge of herbs and past experiences in the Crusades. Some of these were made into a TV series with Derek Jacobi.
Tudor-era settings are also popular.
