Light Posting This Week and Next

Your blogiste will be getting ready for Passover, spring planting and travelling to visit family. So don't expect too much from me. I'll be back to normal mid-week next week, by about the point that I never, ever want to see another piece of matzah again.

Back to Passover cleaning. Hope all of your houses are tidier than mine (which would not be difficult ;-)).

I'm not one for long posts on religion, but with the Jewish festival of Pesach (Passover) upon us and Easter rapidly approaching, there are a few things worth noting.
On Saturday night, we celebrated the first night of Passover. It's a day on which Jews have, since time immemorial, celebrated out freedom, and greater freedom to come.
Apparently, it's a religious holiday called Passover, which refers to some horrible, awful series of afflictions a god visited on some unfortunate people, but passed over some others, so the survivors celebrate. It seems terribly mean-spirited to me.
Well, this was a busy week for sure (and not just yesterday's telecom outage that affected PLoS all day!). There was cleaning, and shopping, and cooking, and gathering/borrowing extra tables, chairs, plates and silverware, for that One Big Night of the year at our house - the Passover dinner.
