Interesting, in that ladderbacks are not supposed to be in your neck of the woods this time of year...
Down here in KY, we have downy woodpeckers, hairy woodpeckers, and flickers mainly, but if you're diligent you can run across red-headed woodpeckers and pileated also -- in many cases you hear the pileated but can't see them.
