Moving Day and a Math Conference

There's a big pile of bloggable items sitting on my desk, but they will have to wait. I will be moving in to my new house tomorrow! Very exciting.

We are also hosting an undergraduate mathematics research conference here at JMU this weekend, and I am organizing one of the sessions.

Which is my way of breaking the bad news that blogging will be sporadic at best for the remainder of the week. Sorry about that.

Winter term classes started on Monday here at JMU, so I figure this is a good time to get out of dodge! I will be participating in the 2010 Joint Mathematics Meetings in San Francisco. Yay!
Check it out!
Things have settled down a bit here in Harrisonburg. The JMU Math Department has now nestled in to its new digs in the appallingly named, but otherwise attractive, Roop Hall. Sadly, my office currently has no shelves on the walls, a state affairs I expect to persist for several more weeks.
Sorry for the lack of blogging lately. I'm in the process of buying my first house, which means most of my time lately has been spent either dealing with that, or sitting around worrying that I'm making some terrible mistake.

Hi Jason,

Nice site, I first came upon it during the Kramnik insanity last month. I am what you might call a Dawkins disciple, especially if I get worked up. An interesting blog has popped up on Netscape about Bart Erhman's book about how the Bible is not an original. I am having trouble defending my beliefs in evolution/science/astronomy
against the preaching types. Maybe you or your readers want to pipe in for me or for yourselves? Here is the link to the blog http://www.netscape.com/viewstory/2006/10/22/who-changed-the-bible-and-…

Congrats. The first week in the first house is wierd and amazing. We just did it this summer.

Just wait until you ge to mow the grass the first time...
