This isn't even a mean/median mistake. Mean income is still under $75k.
I can't even make sense of his answer. It seems completely nonsensical to me.

I think he took a rough stab at estimating the number, came up with the nearest one million dollars, figured that was a little high, so he cut it down a bit. So, it is an accurate estimate, rounded up to the nearest quarter mil.
