WishList

A little while ago, several of you, dear readers, mentioned that you wanted me to set up a wish list, so I did that. You can also find the link on the left sidebar, below the site meter.

As you can see, it's rather long but don't forget that this list has been several years in the making, too. Not only that, but I currently have seven books sitting next me right now, courtesy of several publishers, waiting impatiently for me to read and review them, so there's no need to add substantially to the pile for fear I might be crushed when it topples over. However, there is one book that I want that does not appear on that list; the Indonesian translation of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (but don't count on me finishing that book very quickly! My Indonesian is getting quite rusty these days. This of course, makes me wonder if I ought to get Pimsleur's Indonesian Package before it's too late).

More like this

We recently posted about the confusion about the diagnosis of the seven year old girl in Indonesia for whom local tests indicated H5N1 infection but where the WHO laboratory was not able to confirm it.
I sympathize with the Indonesians up to a point.
If you want a summary of all that is wrong with Indonesian bird flu policy, here it is: The huge territory and people's ignorance had hampered Indonesian health authorities' efforts to eliminate bird flu, Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla said on Friday.

Hey GrrrlScientist!

GrrlScientist has a book coming. Shipment is April 11 on a 3-5 business day delivery schedule. The title is a surprise.

Are you in bookcrossing yet? Then you can trade books or release the ones you've finished with and see where they go.

I'm in there as "monado".

How about Indonesian science news Websites?

I think we need to lighten up the apocryphal atmoshere of GrrlScientist's reading list. My suggestion is CONFEDERACY OF DUNCES, but since many people have already read it, I believe I should nominate some other titles, such as WHITE TEETH, SNOW CRASH, and David Foster Wallace's behemoth, INFINITE JEST.
