This perpetuates the myth that slavers kidnapped Africans for slaves. No. Their ships had no troops. They traded goods for slaves, trading them to the African slavers who ran the slave trade all along the Slave Coast.

I know the myth makes a better story, but the story exists only to make the descendants of slaves feel better about Africans. Being enslaved by your own neighbors in Africa would be pretty hard to take, something not to be proud of.

By the way, until the emergence of the Black Panthers, it was legal (and normal) for anyone to carry a rifle in public, blacks included. The sudden changes in California law was in response to armed (black) citizens organizing in their own interest.

The other, normally unreported fact, is that the whites didn't start the raiding and collection of black Africans to become slaves in Africa. Prior to the Atlantic trade there was already a thriving trade to the North & East for sale of people in the great Islamic markets at Zanzibar & Tripoli (ever wonder why the US marines went to Tripoli in their song, to free enslaved Americans).

The west african slave collectors/traders (all native African tribes) preferred selling to the Atlantic trade; shorter journey, fewer losses along the way and the Omanis complained to the British ambassador about the increasing cost and lower avaiability of black slaves because of the atlantic trade.

Doesn't justify the Atlantic slave trade in any way manner or form, just giving a fuller picture.

And you call people who think Harry Potter is the devil wingnuts. Seems like a clear case of the pot calling the kettle black to me. Accurate? Hardly. That piece was commissioned by Michael the hack Moore and is a blatant rip-off of South Park. The South Park creators were not amused.
