Just a little fun for all those people who are tired of being tortured by telemarketers [1:20]
More like this
I came across this statistic the other day while doing some research on marketing fraud:
I just got a bunch of email from various people warning me that my cell phone number (no, you can't have it) is going to be sold to telemarketers next month, and I need to call a certain phone number right away to get it blocked.
Phillip Reese and Andrew McIntosh of the Sacramento Bee report:
You know how they'll never let you speak to a supervisor ("I don't have a supervisor yada, yada"), tell you their name, we're they're located or the rest of it?
Well I did this once:
Me: "Can I speak to your supervisor, please?"
Them: "I don't have a supervisor"
Me: "How did you get this number?"
Them: "From the phone book"
Me: "No you didn't, this is an unlisted number and you shouldn't have it"
(scuffle, scratch)
Someone else: "I'm sorry sir, I am Y's supervisor. My name is X, I am the ABC Manager here at KLM Corp, our address is yada yada. This will never happen again, we'll put you on the Don't Call List and notify our data supplier ........ [and on for about 5 minutes, interspersed with abject apologies]"
Funny, I get a lot less calls these days.
Mind you, the fact that there was a large scale leak of unlisted numbers into the public telephone listings in my country a couple of years ago probably helped a bit.
