Anastamoses

tags: , , ,

Here's a picture of some really cold birds .. but thanks to the wonders of evolution and anastamoses, their feet haven't frozen off!

Photographed from the ferry that runs between Helsinki and Suomenlinna
on Kalevalapaäivä (Kalevala Day). Suomenlinna is one of my
favorite places to visit in Helsinki, Finland.

You're mean.

You've made me insanely homesick just now. And even though I'm going back home next week to visit the family for Easter, I'll have missed essentially the whole winter. It'll just be gray and wet, I'm guessing. Which is what I've had for winter for several months now here on the Isle of Man.

Absolutely gorgeous photo btw. =)

Get your own back, InkRose. Go down to the Calf of Man with a good camera, and send Grrl lots of photos of sea birds.

I'm afraid you're right about the grey and wet, though.

The Point of Ayre is good for seabirds, too. (And not just those at the rubbish dump!) No cafe, though, so the Calf really scores there.
