I expected to see hobbits running around this part of Suomenlinna,
but alas ..

I have returned to one of my two favorite haunts in Helsinki; Suomenlinna. This island fortress was built from stone by the Swedes to protect Finland (a part of Sweden in the 1700s) from invasion by sea.

Can you tell us more about these huts? Any windows, what other material may be used, humidity, temperatures throughout the year...

As far as I recall, these cellars were the ammunition and powder stores for the cannons on top of the walls where our Grrl was standing. Material is mostly granite fieldstone with red brick for structural detail.
