It ought to work.

We think.

We hope.

Neat article. However, is this not a bit over the top:

"At the same time, the absent U.S. response to the overwhelming conclusions of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has caused widespread concern over continued planetary viability."

Climate change is a serious issue, but is it quite so apocalyptic? Also, is it the poor US response so far that is leading so directly to such a scenario, as this sentence implies (unless I'm reading it wrong)?

The answers you're looking for are "yes" and "yes". We need to start acting more or less immediately to have any hope of stabilizing CO2 concentrations at 450 ppm, and some people are even questioning if that level is safe. And the US has effectively crippled any coherent international action on the issue for years.

Enjoyed reading the Science article.
I have again written to the three candidates, strongly encouraging them to appreciate the significance of participation in Sciencedebate 2008.
