Wow, what a tournament. A day after the US loss and I'm flabbergasted by the attention that the US team is getting. Soccer mania is spreading in the US, and I'm happy for it. It might be that unlike other areas (the Olympics, military might, world economic supremacy) soccer is hard.
Tomorrow I am off to New York for this meeting on hurricanes and climate, sponsored by Columbia University's International Research Institute for Climate and Society.
As a non-American, I must say it appalls me no end that Liberals in America feel themselves such an isolated minority that they can all meet together regularly like a philately (or some other exotic hobby) club.
Hell given the American heritage you should be the majority! Would you invite all the women in the town once a month to the women's happy hour for instance?
