GIMP is da shiznit! The only quibble I have with it is that it doesn't handle text as well as Potatochop. AFAIK it doesn't have kerning/tracking, you can't change text styles within a text block, and it's pretty hit-or-miss at recognizing your installed fonts. But the price is definitely right!
