AIG Executive Excesses

Now we learn that AIG execs just href="http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5g3InVeHoYnmXZnM2ACXSgjG0-nIQD93R68VO0">spent
$86,000 on a hunting trip.

Oct 15th, 2008 | CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A handful of top
executives from American International Group Inc. spent thousands of
dollars during a recent English hunting trip, even as the New
York-based insurer asked for an additional $37.8 billion loan from the
Federal Reserve ... AIG officials declined to say which AIG executives
attended the trip, which reports have said racked up an $86,000 tab.

Unfortunately, Dick Cheney was not able to attend.

Oh, so it wasn't the Answers In Genesis crowd out hunting for dinosaurs?

No, they wouldn't dream of sneaking up on peaceful T-Rexes and killing them whilst dinosaurs snacked on a coconut or two.

The very idea is monstrous!

What I don't understand about these AIG junket stories is why AIG's PR flacks are allowing them to go forward. I'm not at all surprised that AIG's upper level people are arrogant pricks who think nothing of shoveling money into spas and hounds even as they beg for handouts; but I am surprised that they don't seem to have even a cynical pragmatic sense that pissing off the public might be a bad strategy right now.

I agree with phisrow, except, where are the consequences?
