Update on Sandefur and Rowe

Timothy Sandefur has returned from his weekend in Vegas. Unfortunately, he didn't go there for a weekend of drunken debauchery and gambling, but to participate in panel discussions at Freedom Fest, a gathering of the libertarian-minded. It's probably a good thing I didn't attend this event, as I probably would have abandoned the speeches and panel discussions to jump into a few satellites for the World Series of Poker or hit the 10/20 holdem tables. But it sounds like he had a great time. He's also changed the URL of his blog, moving from blogspot to typepad. Good move, I think.

His former guest blogger and fellow libertarian lawyer Jon Rowe is interviewing for permanent teaching positions, so I'd like to wish him good luck in the hunt. Given the passion and insight with which he writes, I imagine he would be a very good teacher.

Last night we were back to our normal game of 1/2 pot limit holdem, and boy am I glad. But it was a very odd night all the way around. Out of 8 players, only two finished with any money left at all, 6 had busted out completely.

Thanks: 2 down, 1 to go. Hopefully by next fall I will have escapted this adjunct hell (actually, it's not so bad -- it's quite enjoyable, in fact -- except for the $ -- that's the "hell").

Good luck, Jon. I have so many friends in academia and whenever they talk about it, I'm glad I'm NOT.
