Okay folks, I'm about to do a major overhaul on my computer. I appear to have mucked up my operating system and caused some serious problems, so after burning about 30 gigabytes worth of stuff (songs and research) to CD last night I'm going to reformat and start over. Problem #1 is that I don't have the install disk for my mother board, but I've downloaded what I believe are all the right drivers to get the job done anyway. So if I'm gone for a couple days, it's because I screwed up that project royally and my frustration has probably sent me to the top of a tower with a high powered rifle. If all goes well, I'll be back in a few hours. Wish me luck.

UPDATE: Linux Install.
So, a month or two ago, I started occasionally getting an error message from iTunes, saying that it was unable to save the library file because the disk was full. This seemed improbable, but when I checked, the C: drive did, indeed, have very little space left.
Just yesterday I posted information about a new resource on recruiting women and girls into information technology.
Best to have two hard drives - one for operating system, one for your data. That way if your OS drive gets completely hosed you can reinstall with minimum fuss. (You can even keep a backup of it on your data drive for quick restoration!)
And of course, a DVD burner so you can archive your data in 6gb chunks.
Good luck!
Is that the water tower as in the film Targets, or the Texas University admin tower as in the Whitman nightmare?? Both of those are nearly 40 years ago, mmmmm
Best of luck on the reboots and overhaul!!!
