So this guy walks into a bar and says to the bartender, "Hey, is this a gay bar?" I know, it sounds like the beginning of a joke, but it's not. After asking that question, 18 year old Jacob Robida went on a rampage:
When the bartender told him it was, Mr. Robida pulled out a hatchet and struck a man in the head, then struck a man who had tried to help the victim, said Capt. Richard Spirlet of the New Bedford police.
Captain Spirlet said that Mr. Robida pulled a gun out of his pocket and shot the man who had tried to help the first victim, then shot a third man across the bar.
The police said two victims were in critical condition.
As if this story needed to get any more insane, you should see the reactions from his friends, who apparently have a collective IQ in single digits. Listen to these folks:
As a manhunt continued Friday for the young man accused of attacking patrons of a gay nightspot with a hatchet and handgun, friends said he sometimes glorified Naziism but never expressed any specific prejudice toward gays...
Heather Volton, 22, of Fall River, said she's been friends with Robida for more than a year after meeting him through mutual friends. He had a swastika tattooed on his hand, she said, but Volton was surprised that his prejudice allegedly boiled over into violence.
"The kid never so much as raised his voice at me," she said...
In his bedroom, the officers found what they described as "Nazi regalia" and anti-Semitic writings on the wall, according to police.
Okay folks, this really should go without saying, but just in case it's not obvious enough: if you have a friend who "glorifies Naziism", has a swastika tattoo and scrawls anti-semitic slurs on his walls that are covered with Nazi regalia, it really doesn't matter whether he seemed like a nice guy - he's a bonafide nutball whacko and you need to get the hell away from him.

Hmm, at 18 years old, that means that a sizeable portion of the development of his psycosis probably occurred in the age category where his parents are supposed to be keeping an eye on him. And note how he also had a gun... what I would like to hear about is the level of involvement and support given to him by his parents.
How does someone, at the age of 18, decide that they hate large groups of people that have never done anything to them, and that they have never met? And then decide to go attack them in the name of heteronormative society. Seriously, I was too preoccupied at 18 trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life to start declaring enemies.
Gee he was "nice" to Heather, who i am sure is a young white female of the Anglo-Saxon-Rhineland Protestant strain. I am sure he was nice to all his friends, and i doubt any of them were anything other than ones he preferred to spend time with. In some ways this reminds me of some of the pictures that were part of the exhibition on lynchings in the US between 1870 and 1964, wherein nice white pastors of local churches were seen reading the Bible while the white masses cheered those doing the lynching. I am sure those were 'nice people, who really didn't hate anyone'.
Wow what a psycho. Well I think we all guess what's going to happen if he goes to prison for this...

Here's the latest. The crazy punk bastard shot a cop dead while they were trying to arrest him. A woman driving with him -- possibly this Heather -- was also killed. They got him though. This guy's beyond psycho. Warm up that needle!
The news says it was a routine traffic stop. They weren't trying to arrest him yet. He just shot the police officer approaching his car. Then Arkansas state police chased him for 16 miles, he crashed his car, he shot his passenger (they say--I'd like to see the ballistics), and he was shot twice in the head. He's now in critical condition.

In another weird ironic twist to the story (he died by the way) CNN reports that: "Robida is a graduate of New Bedford's junior police academy a program intended to build social skills, self-esteem and self-confidence in children 12 to 14, police said."
The peak period of one's social development is "nurtured" by the police department and we end up with a kid like this. Just great.
Well, the guy died, and so far none of his innocent bar victims have. So that's good news. One less piece of violent, reactionary, homophobic, xenophobic, and everythingphobic filth to taint the gene pool.
