The Walmart Boycott Begins

I was reading all the comments on this page...people can judge one another and argue all day but the fact of the matter is that we all have sinned. Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

Whether or not one believes in GOD doesn't change the truth...HE was, is and always will be. It doesn't matter where you are from or where you are...we all need JESUS.

John 3:16 For GOD so loved the world that HE gave HIS only begotten SON, that whosoever believeth in HIM should not perish but have everlasting life.

You may be thinking, what does this have to do with Wal-mart...well maybe it doesn't have anything to do with it...but I just felt in on my heart to type these words.

I am from Tennessee, but it doesn't matter where I'm from...I believe that humans should stop fighting with eachother and pointing out each others faults. Instead we should look into our own hearts and search GOD about what we should do. When we worry about our own souls, then we don't have much time to judge everyone else.

I don't claim to be perfect, no human is...I make mistakes everyday and everyday I have to ask GOD to forgive me and to help me to do better. I believe GOD and HIS word...it will stand forever no matter who believes or don't believe...the word of GOD IS.

Please respect others and follow the LORD...HE will never lead you wrong...GOD Bless you.

In an email alert to its members this week the AFA says that the company is retailing hundreds of products with "pro-homosexual leanings".

What would that be? Hair gel? Moisturizer?

I never really shop at Wal-Mart as it is, but now I guess I'll have to start.

I thought the whole point of the "Martha Stewart Collection" was to scare gays so as to keep them out of the store. I'm getting a distinct mixed message vibe here.

I have to give WalMart credit for one thing: I take a bunch of expensive medications and my bill just dropped from $300/month for the 4 with generics to $16. If they're selling, I'll take two.

What the AFA is objecting to is Walmart's online book store. Just like B&N and Amazon, you can buy books on practically any subject out there. I very much doubt Walmart is directly vetting and approving every title they sell, they do deals with one or more of the large book distributors and give customers access to their catalogs.

The stupid thing is that if the AFA was consistent, they would probably have to boycott just about every major corporation in America. They know that would be highly unpopular with their non-Amish supporters (those used to the trappings of modern life), so they pick a target (and one of the more family-friendly ones at that) and indulge in a bit of posturing.

I'm in the same boat as kehrsam. I have to take synthetic thyroid hormone and will have to do so for the rest of my life. I can't afford to pass up the opportunity to spend a mere $ 16 on a ninety-day supply of medicine, especially now that my daughter has just earned her driver's license and I've got to come up with an additional $ 100+ @ month to cover THAT. I know WalMart's motives are not altruistic, but I'll still be popping in to their pharmacy, at least until my usual pharmacy (CVS) matches the price, which I suspect they will try to do ASAP.

If the big objection this church has is to the books sold in the book section, then they seem to be treating Walmart as if it were a Christian bookstore. Christian bookstores are very picky, and value that sort of customer feedback (have some fun, go into one and in a reverential tone ask for something by Bishop John Shelby Spong.) Unlike KMart, Walmart seems to have more prominently displayed Christian items such as Psalms calendars, "Jesus Is Lord" plaques, and "The Purpose Driven Life" everything. Perhaps the poor things just got confused.

Usually I buy my butt plugs and ball gags at the local 7 eleven but now I'm going to make the extra five mile trip just to stick it to these do-gooders. Thanks for the heads up, Ed.

This boycott will be about as effective as their boycott of Disney theme parks in the late 1990s: not at all. Conservative Xians want their low prices, after all.

In any event, shopping at Wal-Mart leaves them with more money that they can give to their churches.

BTW, we don't shop at Wal-Mart, either, largely for the reasons that Twincats mentioned. Also, because of their false advertising: their touting of their prescription pricing is nothing less than a fraud.

They're not tailoring their beliefs to allow them to "enjoy all the sins of this world" -- they honestly think there's no god, just as fervently as you think there is a god. I wish there was a test distributed to everyone of voting age that could be used as a measurement of their intelligence. It could graded from 1-100 and we would use it to see what the average grade is per person voting for certain parties/candidates. It'd be interesting, to say the least...

1. He doesn't hate you, he doesn't know you. He thinks your wrong.

2. If you tell your child about hell and demons it is simply not healthy and I think Dawkins has more than a small point.

3. I don't think he leads a particuarlly 'sinful' life, I doubt it's any different from yours.

4. Your not teaching your kids about 'God' but rather one of many, many versions of a 'God' concept.

5. One of my favorite quotes ' Hell is reserved for those that believe in it'. This concept alone is enough to disqualify the entire notion as immoral.
