Same old same old at FDA

The Revolving Door. Round and round she goes, where she stops, no one knows.

On January 15, Dr. Scott Gottlieb leaves the FDA as Deputy Commissioner for Medical and Scientific Affairs, returning to his old haunts at the ultra conservative American Enterprise Institute (AEI). Gottlieb was at FDA for about a year and continued to practice medicine on the side, while there. Very demanding job. Practicing medicine. (See posts here and here.)

His replacement has just been announced by newly confirmed FDA Commissioner Dr. Andrew von Eschenbach. It is Randall Lutter, Ph.D., who will serve as Acting Deputy Commissioner for Policy. While the title is different, the announcement says he is replacing Gottlieb.

Lutter has played a key role at the FDA in keeping Americans safe from those cheap imported drugs from Canada. He's been with FDA since 2003. Where was he before that? He was a resident scholar with . . . (drum roll)

The American Enterprise Institute.

Randy: We'll have to see how many are hacks. The level of hackery in this Administration exceeds that of most others in recent memory. Not all Administration are the same, even within the same party.

Well we agree on one thing, and that is that this Administration went too far to the right and now the system has corrected itself more towards the center. I dont though looking and hearing what the new electeds are saying think we are too far off it. These Democrats are packing weapons and if we are going to be in a war, we are going to de-Vietnam it. No attrition on our part, more on theirs now.

Two carrier battle groups in the Straits now. B2, B1's in Diego Garcia. They arent there to teach people to fly.
