There must be an error with the data, because there's no way that a significant proportion of the population of any country believe that it is "always justifiable" to beat one's wife. Not even wife beaters would agree with that proposition.

82% favorable? With the second highest value at 26%? Difficult to take this seriously.

It's worth pointing out that Slovenia is the most advanced Balkanic country, by pretty much any standard. It's in the EU and the Eurozone. Its GDP per capita is about $29K, to be compared with Italy's $30K. Basically, it's a first-world country.

Of course that doesn't stop agnostic from running away with it and offering a miscagenation explanation in the comments...

I have to agree with toto on this. I have a lot of trouble believing this is accurate data. If it is accurate there better be a very good explanation for it.

Haha, this is probably wrong, I mean come on 80%?? I am a slovenian and I don't think we are beating wifes at all. Sure a few mentally challenged, but there are those people in all countries. And to put it right, we are not a balkanic country, slovenia alone never was and never will be. To be more clear, as a part of yugoslavia we really were a balkanic country, but not that we got our independence we are out of balkan peninsula. A minimal percentage of our land is a part of balkan peninsula, but that way italians are balkanians as well, they sure are similar :P We all know how their south looks like.
