I agree that it's more of the same and that it's bad. I'd like to see more positive advertising though. "I'm not the other guy (who's a bad guy)" is not a sufficient platform to run on.
I, too, would like to see more positive ads. But when the other guy is so bad I think Obama's hand is forced in a sense. He HAS to counter the lies, or, as we all know, they become truths.
The old truism of political science: everyone bitches about negative ads AND everyone believes them. Ergo, they work. Thus, if you want to win, you have to go negative.
