In conversation with reporters earlier today Coleman noted that he does not anticipate this case going to the US Supreme Court, though he did apparently say this in his usual smarmy way so he can change his mind later. He did indicate that he DOES anticipate bringing the case to the Minnesota Supreme Court if the judicial panel now considering the case rules against his claim.

IOW, the Republican National Committee strategists have calculated that the Minnesota Supreme Court ploy might drag this whole sorry business out a few days longer, while leaving the option open for yet further delays by going to Washington after Coleman receives his due humiliation in the Land of 10K Lakes.
It's all about the stall.
He also didn't anticipate a recount, and didn't anticipate having an appeal of the recount, etc. Somewhere back up the river he was quite adamant about the importance of accepting the vox populi and getting down to business.
Of course, that was when he thought stopping the music would leave him in the chair ...
