James Hall has a post on Collective Imagination that you will want to read if you are interested in FOSS.
More like this
One of the most common arguments against the New Atheists is to claim that they're railing against a straw man — that religion is benign and thoughful and rational.
Or, not... There is what appears to be a very good FOSS alternative:
I agree with Shawn Powers that Unity has offended all that is good in this world by aggressively grabbing so much of my screen real estate much like Hitler grabbed the Rhineland.
Linux probably has a lot more FOSS tools for editing PDF's than other platforms. ImageMagick will do basic manipulation from the command line.
This is intended to be the first of (probably) 3 guest posts on Free / open source software. The next post will begin discussing the qualities that an open source project must possess in order for it to succeed.

Look forward to the other two, Jim. and thanks again for the FreeDOS project.
You're welcome, Spiv!
I also promised an article or two for Steph at http://quichemoraine.com/ - so you may see something there after I've done the rest of my posts at CI.
