Is the proper name for Amazona species Parrot, Amazon, or Amazon Parrot? They're nice birds any which way.
pet owners typically refer to them as "Amazons" while birders and ornithologists refer to them as "parrots".
So you're just covering all bases with "Amazon parrot" then? :)
