A red morph Eastern Screech Owl. One of my favorite birds and one which brings back fond memories as a teenager imitating their calls at night and being astonished as they responded and flew in to investigate me.

What a beautiful photo, btw.

It reminds me of the tropical screech-owl in Suriname and as I just bought the book of David Sibley, I see I have to watch for the green bill to give it a name: eastern screech-owl. What a beautiful book (and bird)
