Peter: Brian, can I see that paper for a sec?
(Brian gives Peter the paper. Peter peruses the paper.)
Peter: Huh... that's odd... I thought that would big news.
Wow, what a stunning picture!
It looks like a prairie warbler, I think. It has the bright yellow face/breats, black eye stripe and a black stripe on the cheek, the sort of tan/yellow on the head, and the black stripes/markings on the sides. BUT, according to the range maps in my bird book, it's totally out of range (though, you'd think with the name "prairie" that SD would be within range).
Yeah, Prairie Warbler is the first thing I thought of, too, and checking the field guide it looks like a pretty close match.
Quick, son, run back to the house and get your BB gun.
