Its not so hard to get your head around endogenous retroviruses once you get the gist of them. RNA virus turns itself into DNA, inserts itself into your genome, makes babby viruses.
It looks to me like a New Guinea Impatiens, Impatiens hawkeri. Very pretty!
I think it's impatiens, too. It was my mother's second favorite flower for hanging baskets, after geraniums.
