Ninety Percent of Americans Are Evil Sluts

The Guttmacher Institute has released a report showing that 90% of Americans have engaged in premarital sex. This isn't really an increase either: premarital sex was nearly as common among women in their sixties. Hopefully, that will dispel the notion that slutiness [/snark] is on the rise. I wonder what the right-wing nutjobs will make of this. I doubt anything other than abstinence-only education will be on their agenda. Oh wait, one other thing will probably be discussed:

BILL CLINTON'S PENIS!!!!!

Maybe this will move things away from faith-based public health, and towards the realm of reality. One can always hope...

More like this

You wonder what the wingnuttery will do?

This one is too easy....

They'll call for the dismantling of the Guttmacher Institute, brick by brick, and then will run a little experiment of their own:

They'll seek to toss all of its researchers into the pond, to see which ones float.

I wonder what the right-wing nutjobs will make of this.

I'd rather wonder if their premarital sex was so bad

Since expecting voluntary compliance with abstinence isn't working, we need to start enforcing it. First, strict separation of the sexes in all spheres of life. This is easiest to do if women are confined to the home. Second, government-mandated monitoring of everyone's genitals for signs of sexual activity. This is easiest to keep track of in women, as an intact hymen is proof of abstinence.

The first is already on the rightwing religious nuts' agenda; I'm sure the second will be suggested soon.

"Any time I see numbers that high, I'm a little suspicious," she said. "The numbers are too pat."

Yeah, that's what Bush said about the Iraqi war epidemiology, too. "Those numbers can't be right, because I don't like them!"

The important question is how much of the premarital sex involved people who eventually got married. I remember reading in Scientific American a few years ago that a lot of the premarital sex was of this kind.

(You'd be surprised at the number of ordinary Western men who still value an intact hymen in their future wife.)

Research comparing marriage and birth records for New York in the early 1900's show that 2/3rds of the first born were 3 month+ premies.

My father was born in 1927, 6 months after his parents married.

My older brother was born in 1947, 6 months after our parents married.

"(You'd be surprised at the number of ordinary Western men who still value an intact hymen in their future wife.)"

And yet the data would suggest that these same ordinary men place little value on hymen integrity in women who will become future wives of other men.

Julian: You'd be surprised at the number of ordinary Western men who still value an intact hymen in their future wife.

Blader: And yet the data would suggest that these same ordinary men place little value on hymen integrity in women who will become future wives of other men.

Julian: Of course they don't. That's another man's bad luck. Male competition at work. And I can understand not wanting to go where other men have already been.

Our society has always been sinking into a slough of depravity and lust. And it is still here

Western Civilization has always been declining. And it is still here.

Part of being a right wing idiot is being able to assume, ignoring all contrary evidence, that TODAY! NOW! is uniquely, heartbreakingly wrong, and the only cure is to abandon logic and hope and embrace the inner loon. And suppress, oppress, depress, and repress women, because female sexuality is soooooooo yucky. And we have to control it! So there!

Historical ignorance is not a bug, it is part of their original design spec. Oh, and being horrified by the idea that people might actually be having fun, with or without sex.

At first I was a little perturbed by all the political rants in a science oriented feed but you've won me over.. You are like Dennis Miller's antibody.. ;) keep up the good ranting I love it.. You've picked up a new fan.

Perhaps it would sound better to the wingnuts if we reframed the question in terms of unlimited drilling in formerly protected wetlands.
