I'm always a little restless the night before a new rotation. Sunday night was no different, and I laid awake in my bed for longer than I'd hoped to, worrying about leaving behind the intensive care unit (the ICU) and switching to the general medicine floors.
So the other day, grandma was taken to the hospital with various medical issues, and treated in the ER.
When swine flu poked its head above water in the northern hemisphere in April our "normal" flu season was just ending. A surge of swine flu cases during a time when influenza was not usually seen was bewildering and confusing, not to mention alarming.
If you know your bugs you know that Blattella germanica and Periplaneta americana are cockroaches. They aren't the only cockroach species. In fact there are an estimated 4000 different kinds of cockroach, many of them living in fields, forests or jungles.

Um, do you really want to link to that Eschaton post? What a load of garbage, and frankly I expect better from your blog. "My proposal: let people hunt, but allow some armed felons to roam the woods, hunting the people." Seriously, that's what you're linking to? I don't exactly know your opinion on hunting, but advocating for the violent death of people enjoying a legal activity is not only beyond the pale, it's fucking stupid.
