The Good, the Bad, and the Mellow

The problem with the holiday season is that it just flies by so fast-- it seems like you've barely finished clearing away the Thanksgiving dishes, and then you find that you've already missed Mellowmas.

Haven't heard of that one? Well, it's a new holiday invented by jefitoblog and Jason Hare, explained by jefito thusly:

For the next twelve days, Jason and I will be having the mellowest listening party you ever did hear, and we're going to do it yuletide style, bringing you the finest seasonal cuts from artists such as Air Supply, Glenn Medeiros, REO Speedwagon, and more. Just when you think we can't get any mellower, we probably will. It'll make you want to eat mistletoe until you die. (Lord knows that's how I felt.)

There are twelve days in all, and the final installment was posted today: One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven, Eight, Nine, Ten, Eleven, Twelve.

They helpfully provide download and purchase links for all the songs they discuss, should you be so moved.

(This grew out of Jason Hare's regular Adventures Through the Mines of Mellow Gold feature, which is worth a look in its own right...)

Yes. It's that plant that flowers every twelve years. Grows in the south of my beloved country. Once it flowers - after twelve years - what do you think it would do? Die. That's what.
If you go to the ScienceBlogs front page you will see that The Buzz word of the day is Pluto.
So, in the Free-Ride house we're pleased as punch that Pluto hasn't lost its planetary status. (No, we don't consider the "plutons" lesser planets.
