I think someplace NOT in the USA, as there are no viable baseball / softball fields. Your "blogs are hot" clue could mean Italy? Streets on a grid, but buildings close together, so not a newer campus, and in the middle of a big city.
No Lake Michigan, so it is not Northwestern.
University of Toronto --- site of ISMB 2008 and Yeast 2008.
Beaten to it, that's Toronto. I can see Larry Moran's lab.
I'm looking forward to seeing you next week on this campus. We'll be meeting in one of the odd shaped buildings.
