This is a bit amazing. Check out the original post here. It's a method of art reminiscent of Jackson Pollack's abstract drip paintings. Just more suited to the less squeamish. Erin Watson uses blow fly larvae -- maggots -- to get kids excited about painting. Judging by her upcoming educational demonstration project on the National Mall, it's working. "Maggot art," the brainchild of Southeastern Louisiana University biologist Watson, works like this. With kids watching her, Watson drops diluted water-based poster paint onto paper. She then places the maggots into the paint drops. Next, the…
Shoutout to DC Geology Events for getting the word out about the Festival! Thanks for helping promote the festival. Read the full post here. Why have a Science Festival? Society gets what it celebrates! As a culture, we celebrate movie stars, rock stars and athletes and we generate a lot of them, but we don't celebrate science and engineering. The Festival is analogous to an art, music or literary Festival but it is focused on Science and Engineering and accomplishes its mission via hands-on demonstrations, fun demos, and presentations including art, music, comedy, film and theater.

Entry: Science Knows it All Belén Mella What is your age? I am 13 years old. Where do you go to school? I go to school at Sunny Isles Beach Community School K-8, a public school in Miami-Dade County, Florida. What do you plan to study in college? At 13 years old, my mind changes faster than I can realize (science will probably have an explanation for why exactly that happens), even on matters as transcendental as what I want to study in college and ultimately what I want to do for the rest of my life! Nevertheless, precisely as I answer this question, I want to study communications or…
