'cept these folks:
- Slate, on Janet Browne's new edition of Origin and on Darwin as a writer. Jonah's digging it too; and so is fellow Virginian Jason.
- The Economist on the globalizing trend of evolution-creationism debates
- The Chronicle of Higher Education dishes up an essay that discusses these:
- Breaking the Spell: Religion as a Natural Phenomenon, by Daniel C. Dennett (Viking Press, 2006)
- The Creation: An Appealto Save Life on Earth, by Edward O. Wilson (W.W. Norton, 2006)
- Darwin's Cathedral: Evolution, Religion, and the Nature of Society, by David Sloan Wilson (University of Chicago Press, 2002)
- Evolution and Christian Faith: Reflections of an Evolutionary Biologist, by Joan Roughgarden (Island Press, 2006)
- Evolving God: A Provocative View of the Origins of Religion, by Barbara J. King (Doubleday, 2007)
- The God Delusion, by Richard Dawkins (Houghton Mifflin, 2006)
- The Language of God: A Scientist Presents Evidence for Belief, by Francis S. Collins (The Free Press, 2006)
- Letter to a Christian Nation, by Sam Harris (Knopf, 2006)
- Religion Explained: The Evolutionary Origins of Religious Thought, by Pascal Boyer (Basic Books, 2002)
- Six Impossible Things Before Breakfast: The Evolutionary Origins of Belief, by Lewis Wolpert (W.W. Norton, 2007)
- The Varieties of Scientific Experience: A Personal View of the Search for God, by Carl Sagan (The Penguin Press, 2006)
- Oh, look at the Times Literary Supplement, this one written by Jim Endersdby, a guy I don't know personally, but a guy whose work I've read (he's good, I'm vouching for him) - they're talking Darwin too, in this fabulous review essay about two new works, one is Volume 14 of the Darwin Correspondence project (covering 1866), the other another new edition of Origin. I can't wait till New Edition comes out with a new edition of Origin too. Or, or, they'll wait to become Bell Biv Devoe, then get to it.
- Oh, and there's this: Endersby is editing a new edition of Origin of Species too, says his TLS by-line. Good, good. That's good.
- Shudder to think, here's a lengthy article titled "Darwin's God" in The New York Times. Nice to see the ole Times is still kicking it live. This one's by Robin Marantz Henig.
- The Independent weighs in too. They tell us that "previously unpublished letters reveal the thinking behind the book that unleashed a scientific and religious furor in the 19th century." Truth be told, this article is in reference to the same Correspondence Project already noted above.
- I don't want to throw any kinks into this chain, but looks like The Telegraph is reporting that Richard Fortey, President Of The Geological Society Of London, who recently won the very prestigious Michael Faraday Prize doesn't buy Intelligent Design. (Fine, it's an old link, sue me)
