ACLU Defending Christians

I've written several posts detailing cases where the ACLU has defended the free exercise and free speech rights of Christians, contrary to the delusional religious right rhetoric about them. Attorney Allen Asch has more examples on his homepage. Well worth reading.

Nice find Ed! I'll add it to my Favorites Folder (Refutations of Creationists->ACLU Defending Christians). Yes, I have a folder dedicated to just that stuff, half the links pointing to your blog.

Uhoh, just realized that the ones pointing to your blog may not work for much longer! I'll have to update them sometime.

The ones pointing to my old blog will remain where they are. The archives have not moved, just the main index page now redirects to here. All old links should remain accurate as long as I own that domain and I have no intention of giving it up.

Ok, cool! Thanks Ed!

Thanks so much, Ed (and Allen). Most ACLU websites are nearly impossible to search for a comprehensive list of links such as this, despite my entreaties as a card-carrying member.

A large part of the image problem that the ACLU has is that there are not more resources like this where one can easily grab a big handful of examples to counter the standard noise machine charge that the ACLU wants to "stamp out all mentions of religion" in the public square.

Thanks for the link! I received an email from an oft deluded relative a couple of days ago requesting that everyone send a Christmas card via snail mail to the ACLU, not to be nice but because it would really "show them", and somehow bring their office to a standstill because of the mass influx of mail. This link helped cap off my appropriately snarky response.

The ACLU should defend the rights of Christians and even creationists and IDers to speak, but not to TEACH that poppycock in our schools. The Christians begin brainwashing children in Sunday school, at a young, impressionable age. What we evolutionists need is a forum for reaching the young that is comparable, like teaching them about dinosaurs, which hold a nearly universal level of fascination for most children. Up with science!
