My Apologies

I'm in the process of moving thousands of posts from my old blog over to here and I just got an email from a reader who gets email alerts whenever I post saying he's getting bombarded with emails telling him I have a new post. That was not something I had even considered, since I've never had an email alert system on my blog before. So for anyone who gets those alerts, please accept my apologies. I've asked the techs at SB to take a look. Hopefully they can shut it off before they get any more posts moved over.

Update: The old posts through the end of 2004 are now up. I assume the rest will go up on Monday. But now I'm running into a problem posting anything new to the blog. It's possible that I won't be able to post anything until Monday, since the techs are gone. That would suck, but it may happen.

I wish more bloggers would read and bookmark this post (I don't know when I first wrote it, but I moved it up top on April 20, 2006): This is an old post but I wanted to bring it up to top as I recently saw some blogs shut down improperly, i.e., deleting the complete content. Every now and then a…
I have nothing to do with the recent kerfuffle about civility and comment policies that has been meandering through science blogs, but a large quantity of posts on the subject on a largeish number of blogs has, I admit, gotten me thinking about my own comment policies. Since I often get queries,…
Believe it or not, after nearly eight years blogging and around five years before that cutting my skeptical teeth on that vast and wild (and now mostly deserted and fallow) wilderness that was Usenet, I have occasionally wondered whether what I'm doing is worthwhile. Sometime around 1998, after I…

This is a test. I've turned off the typekey requirement for now, seeing what that does to the commenting problems. If I get blasted with spam, I'll put it back on. If you're having trouble commenting, I apologize. The techs are trying to get the whole system fixed.

Finally, I can comment. Honestly, in my 15 years on the internet, I've never seen a site have more consistent, frustrating login problems, than Scienceblogs.

FWIW I've never had a problem logging in or commenting. Sorry, steve s.
