I'm going to be hitting the road this weekend for one of my periodical tours of some of the great highways in the Northeast. I'll be visiting the 'rents at my New Jersey office, will jaunt on up to Brooklyn to see big bro and the niece and nephew, and will probably putter around Princeton for an afternoon or two, being sure to take advantage of their most excellent math library. Regular blogging will resume at the end of next week.

Finally, Morris has achieved winter-like weather: snow and 0°F temperatures. We've been puttering about with temperate nonsense like a warm, wet October and an early November with temperatures in the 30s °F, and I've rarely had to bother with a coat, until today.
Yes, I know that my science blogging has been light as of late but I couldn't resist putting up this article I found in today's local fishwrapper.
We're scatter-brained touristas on vacation, so pinning us down to specific times and places is hard. However, we are going to be puttering about in downtown Seattle on Friday, and I think we can commit to one thing: lunch!

Be sure to get some ice cream from the Bent Spoon while you're in Princeton. That's whose shirt I was wearing yesterday. Word on the street is Gourmet Magazine calls them the best in the country, and I'm not going to argue with them.
You call that the northeast? What's Boston, chopped liver? Okay. Be that way.
Seriously. Have fun.
There was a cool article in the NYT sometime within the last few months about good eats just off the Jersey Turnpike. One of the places sold homebrewed rootbeer by the gallon!

The really important thing is to visit Hoagie Haven. Now that's a sandwich! As long as it's not too hot, there's nothing better than getting lunch at the Haven, walking over to Palmer Square to eat it, and then getting desert at the Halo Pub, which is conveniently located right there. I don't know the Bent Spoon. I'll have to check them out!

When I lived in Kansas I considered Virginia the Northeast.

There's terrific kosher-style deli called Harold's just off Exit 10. Sadly, I will be getting off at Exit 7A.
